More than recognising a plate
Reading a registration and releasing a gate are separate functions. The camera, access controller and software must support the intended workflow, with the vehicle linked to an authorised user or access rule.
Camera position is part of the system
Approach angle, speed, distance and lighting influence plate capture. We review the lane and mounting position and allow for testing under the conditions the site actually experiences.
Keep another way in
Visitors, unreadable plates and a changed vehicle still need a practical entry procedure. We include an alternative credential or intercom workflow and agree who maintains the authorised vehicle list.
BEFORE WE BEGIN
A little clarity.
Does a camera recognising a plate automatically open the gate?
No. Plate capture and gate release are separate functions. The camera, access controller and software must support the complete workflow, with the vehicle linked to an authorised user or rule.
What site details affect plate recognition?
Approach angle, distance, speed and lighting influence the camera view. We review the lane and mounting position and plan testing around the actual day and night conditions at your premises.
How do visitors or an unreadable plate get through?
The access plan needs an alternative, such as an intercom or supported credential. It should also identify who updates the vehicle list when a staff member changes cars or a visitor needs entry.
Equipment capabilities are confirmed during scoping. See Ubiquiti’s current manufacturer guidance.
